New high temperature die lubricant delivers excellent performance on a wide variety of parts

Howell, September 2005 - In yet another example of Release InnovationTM, Chem-Trend's die cast product development team has introduced a range of products aimed at providing excellent solder protection without build-up for dies running at temperatures above 300°C (572°F) before spray. Using a new generation of proprietary chemistries, these products provide higher efficiency and cleaner parts delivering improved quality and productivity.

Safety-LubeŽ 1610 is used by a European foundry producing large auto parts. Die temperatures were running at about 360°C (680°F) before the spray. With the new technology, they were able to reduce spray time and volume by 30%. Reduced solder and buildup also brought the die polish time down by 30%.

In the U.S., a die-caster is making smaller parts in a two-cavity die with a 45-second cycle time. They were facing poor productivity due to increased polishing time to remove solder caused by high die temperatures. Safety-LubeŽ 1601, another product based on the new technology, was able to eliminate the need for a mid-shift polish, increasing productivity from 65% to 84%.
