Klüber Lubrication is certified according to ISO 21469

Munich based lubricant company fulfils new international standard for food and pharmaceutical lubricants

Munich, November 2008 - Klüber Lubrication München, Germany, a world market leader in speciality lubrication, is one of the first companies in Europe to be certified according to ISO 21469:2006. The international standard applies to lubricants intended for use in the food and pharmaceutical industries. It specifies hygiene requirements for the formulation, production, use and handling of lubricants that may incidentally come into incidental contact with products during manufacturing.

Overview of the new requirements of ISO 21469:

- Scope of requirements for lubricants with incidental product contact (H1 lubricants) extended from food to include also cosmetic products, pharmaceuticals, tobacco and animal feed.
- Binding hygiene requirements regarding the formulation, manufacture, storage and use of H1 lubricants.
- Lubricant manufacturers are required to develop a stringent hygiene strategy including risk assessment of manufacturing processes.
- Users of H1 lubricants must be informed about hygiene requirements regarding their use.
Klüber Lubrication has developed a service programme named KLASS (Klüber Asset Support Service) for its customers. The aim is to optimise their lubrication management. It provides professional solutions for producers of food and pharmaceutical products regarding hygiene requirements for storage, use and labelling according to ISO 21469.
