Freudenberg Chemical Specialities and SurTec hold discussions on cooperation

Munich/Zwingenberg, 03-18-2010 - Freudenberg Chemical Specialities KG (FCS), Munich, a company forming part of the Freudenberg Group, Weinheim, and SurTec International GmbH (SurTec), Zwingenberg, have started discussions on future cooperation possibilities and signed heads of agreement on this subject. The objective is to integrate SurTec into the FCS Group as a further division. The two companies agreed to keep further details confidential.

FCS and SurTec are both active in the field of surface technology and treatment. Through its subsidiaries, FCS develops, produces and markets special lubricants, release agents and chemotechnical maintenance products, SurTec offers its own surface treatment and electroplating products.

"The planned acquisition of a majority stake, followed by the integration of SurTec into the FCS Group, is the result of a carefully planned process for the strategic expansion of our business portfolio," says Hanno D. Wentzler, President and CEO of FCS. "Like our other subsidiaries, SurTec will operate as an independent company within the Business Group and will develop with our support over the long term."

SurTec is to retain primary responsibility for direct market processing, the maintenance and positioning of corporate and product brands, technical development work and all aspects of human resources management and development.

Currently, the FCS Business Group includes Klüber Lubrication, Chem-Trend and OKS. SurTec is to form the fourth division of the Business Group.
