Synthetic Compressor Oils for Food Processing Industry

Munich, 2 Oct 2006 - Extended Maintenance Cycles and Reduced Consumption Providing Economic Benefits

Synthetic oils have proved to be perfect lubricant solutions for compressors being used in the food processing industry. The new high performance lubricants OKS 3640 and 3650 provide additional benefits to the industry.

Compared to conventional mineral oils synthetic lubricants provide oil exchange intervals being four to six times longer. These extended maintenance cycles can help to reduced operating and maintenance cost. In addition the amount of oil needed could be reduced by up to 75%, again compared to conventional mineral oils. This supports the user to also reduce cost related to waste oil disposal.

Depending on the type of compressor being in use, a significant reduction of energy cost could be achieved. This reduction typically amounts to 2 up to 5 percent (using screw compressors) and 3 to 7 percent (using piston compressors). The OKS high performance oils are released by the NSF (National Sanitation Foundation) for the use in the food processing industry (class H1). They provide excellent lubrication properties, operational safety through low evaporation losses, a high flashpoint and high auto ignition point. In addition they show a good compatibility with seals and plastics and good corrosion protection properties.
