Munich, 13 Dec 2010 - The agreement signed on June 25, 2010 between Freudenberg Chemical Specialities (FCS) and SurTec International GmbH (SurTec), Zwingenberg, concerning the acquisition by FCS of the majority shareholding in SurTec has become legally binding, clearing the way for a rapid integration of SurTec into the FCS Group.

The acquisition is part of the overall Freudenberg strategy to systematically build and extend its business in the field of chemical specialities. SurTec offers competent solutions for the thorough cleaning of sensitive alloys, for the matt pickling and anodizing of aluminum, for the reliable galvanizing of electroplated steel, for the electropolishing of stainless steel or the decorative chrome plating of plastics – in all applications for surface cleaning, corrosion protection and finishing. SurTec has subsidiaries in 25 countries on all five continents, and employs about 440 employees. SurTec with its surface treatment and electroplating products and solutions represents a meaningful addition and expansion to the present portfolio of the FCS Group. Like FCS’s present divisions, Klüber Lubrication, Chem-Trend and OKS, SurTec will operate as an independent company within the FCS Business Group and will develop further over the long term. SurTec will remain headquartered in Zwingenberg.

Freudenberg Chemical Specialities

Freudenberg Chemical Specialities, Munich, was founded in 2004 as a new Business Group within the Freudenberg Group. The company has a lean, market-oriented organization with Management Board and Corporate Functions. Its objective is to promote innovation potentials in the group and to expand world-wide market leadership in specialty lubricants and release agents. The Business Group already includes three largely independent divisions which are active in more than 30 countries: Klüber Lubrication, Chem-Trend and OKS.

SurTec

SurTec is a surface treatment company which develops, produces and markets chemical products and processes for industrial cleaning, the pre-treatment, processing and post-treatment of metal surfaces, plating on plastic and aluminum anodizing. Surtec International GmbH, Zwingenberg, has subsidiaries in 25 countries on all five continents.
