Zyvax® TakeOff™ - new, powerful release agent for the aerospace industry

Water based and environmentally conscious
With Zyvax® TakeOff™, Chem-Trend introduces at JEC 2015 a water-based, semi-permanent new release agent which has been specifically developed for the production of components for the aerospace industry. Zyvax® TakeOff™ is particularly well suited for the manufacture of extremely large epoxy components and therefore ideal for use in aircraft construction. The water-based and environmentally conscious Zyvax® TakeOff™ meets the highest standards of this demanding industry segment.
"As the aerospace industry's demand for lightweight composite components increases, so does the need for high-quality release agents that perform to the highest standards," said George Barton, Senior Business Development Director for composites at Chem-Trend. "A modern aircraft consists of up to 50 percent lightweight composites, which reduces fuel consumption dramatically. Manufacturers in the marine, rail and automotive sectors are also increasing their use of composite materials to gain the same advantages. With our specifically designed solutions, we provide targeted support for these manufacturers."
Zyvax® TakeOff™ allows composites to release quickly and flawlessly from moulds. It is easily applied by wiping or spraying and reduces waste and scrap significantly. Additionally, there is very low transfer of the release agent to the moulded part. This can eliminate or significantly reduce any cleaning process that might be required prior to a post-moulding procedure, such as painting and gluing. This saves material, time, and money for manufacturers.
A further distinct advantage of TakeOff™ is its ability to be applied to moulds at varying temperatures, thus reducing the required downtime to allow the mould to cool, as is sometimes needed when using solvent-based release agents. TakeOff™ needs only a minimal number of coats to become effective, with short dry times between applications. It also provides multiple release capability, potentially contributing to improved productivity in the manufacturing process. The new parting agent provides a favorable match for vacuum bag and autoclave moulding methods as well, since no sealant is required, in most cases.
At JEC 2015 Chem-Trend will present its comprehensive portfolio of high-quality processing aids for the production of composite components. Chem-Trend’s industry experts will be available in hall 7.3, stand M8 to meet with customers and guests at the show.
