Eco-friendly lubrication and precise maintenance interval planning
Wind turbine generator systems on the open sea are exposed unprotected to the elements. Saltwater and aggressive sea air not only promote corrosion, but can also easily wash off the lubricants used to protect components from wear into the water. This not only causes premature wear to the components and high maintenance costs, but it also pollutes the sea unnecessarily. At WindEnergy 2018, Klüber Lubrication will be showing how highly efficient biodegradable speciality lubricants help to ensure optimal availability for wind turbine generator systems, while also protecting the environment. Klüber Lubrication’s EfficiencyManager also offers a custom-fit software solution for planning maintenance and repair operations.
Eco-friendly and exceptionally adhesive
Klüberbio LG 39-701 N is a high-grade special lubricant for gear teeth on yaw drives as well as for the yaw bearing raceway or slide plates. The base oil for this highly viscous adhesive lubricant is obtained solely from renewable raw materials and is ultimately biodegradable. A balanced additivation ensures high load carrying capacity, excellent wear and corrosion protection, and an exceptional adhesive strength, even at very low ambient temperatures. Klüberbio LG 39-701 N can also be pumped effectively at temperatures down to –30 °C and can therefore be applied in exact dosages using automatic relubrication systems. The adhesive lubricant meets all EAL (environmentally acceptable lubricant) requirements.
"Wind turbine generator system operators have great interest not only in extending maintenance intervals to as long as they can be, but also making it possible to schedule them," explains Thomas Jorgensen, Sales Development Manager for the Global Business Team for Wind Energy at Klüber Lubrication. "There is also the requirement for greater efficiency and sustainability. We offer our clients custom-fit solutions and services which go far beyond the offer of high-performance products," adds Thomas Jorgensen.
Having a handle on repair and maintenance
With the EfficiencyManager, Klüber Lubrication offers a software solution which enables operators to collect and control all the data required for trouble-free operation. These particularly include information on necessary relubrication and maintenance. Moreover, the EfficiencyManager offers the option of saving and documenting all reports, analysis reports, inspections, etc., as required for each specific machine. The system status can be checked via the monitor using a simple traffic light signalling system. Details can be analysed in depth. This allows Klüber Lubrication to reduce any complexity arising from digital transformation and to create transparency. Users can access the EfficiencyManager online or as a mobile app to enter all relevant information for a trouble-free production process.
In addition to new solutions, Klüber Lubrication will also be presenting its tried-and-tested product range for wind turbine generator systems at WindEnergy 2018. Find them at Stand 531 in Hall B6. The Klüber Lubrication experts will also be on hand to help with complex questions and challenges relating to tribology.
