Speciality lubricants are essential elements of a functioning drive technology and an effective element of a good sustainability strategy. They significantly contribute to improving the efficiency of machinery and minimize the operating costs. At the Hanover Fair 2019, the tribology expert OKS will show new as well as proven lubrication solutions for special applications in drive technology. In particular, high-performance speciality lubricants for food technology, such as the Extreme-Temperature Bearing Grease OKS 4220, will be presented. This rolling bearing grease was designed especially for applications with maximum loads and temperatures. It is NSF H1 certified and free of MOSH/MOAH substances, whereby the risk of unintentional contaminations is reduced to a minimum.
"There is is a distinctive trend to further increase the performance of lubricants through 'intelligent' additives without critical components", said Markus Breitenbach, Marketing Manager of OKS Spezialschmierstoffe GmbH. "Biodegradable speciality lubricants and cleaners as well as water-based bonded coatings and corrosion protection products also contribute to protecting the environment and increasing the product safety in all industrial sectors."
Frequently the performance of the newly developed, environmentally friendly solutions exceeds the performance of conventional products. A fitting practical example from OKS is the lubrication of transport chains used in the production of aluminium beverage cans. After the cans have been deep-drawn, these are coated and the coating stoved at approx. 210 degree Celsius. Transport through the stoving furnace is effected with fast-running chains that reach a throughput of up to 20,000 cans per hour. Through the use of High-Temperature Chain Oil OKS 3570/1, the consumption was reduced by more than 60% in comparison to the lubricant previously used and the operating life of the transport chain doubled.
The specialisation in the field of lubricants means that in future the search for a suitable lubricant will no longer be limited simply to the selection of a suitable grease or oil, but rather that the focus will lie on the decision for the optimal lubrication system for a specific application. The provision of advice by a lubricant expert to designers will therefore gain in significance – since only manufacturers with their own research and development such as OKS Spezialschmierstoffe GmbH can give competent advice and provide innovative as well as economic solutions.
